Pet Cemetery

It's crisp out today.  And by crisp I mean freezing.  Well, at least the Halloween decorations already up in my house don't seem so prematurely ridic anymore.  It's also time to put the seasonal classic dvd on loop...Nightmare Before Christmas. Spoiler alert:  Oscar is going to be the Headless Horseman of Sleepy Hollow for Halloween this year - totally his idea.  Pretty much the only thing keeping him goin' with school starting is the promise of the most magical aka spooky of all holidays (though Easter is a close second).  Yeah, it's all he thinks about so buckle up - snack bag theme locked for a grip.  Happy Tuesday!  xoxo

So Goat

Yep - nothing says the first day of school like goats.  We spent a blissful vacation way off the grid at our friends' goat farm last week.  When I asked Oscar what he wanted on his bag, school was the furthest thing from his mind.  He wants to go back to the farm he says.  Sigh. Cheez Doodle

Yesterday was camp olympics + Oscar's team color was orange.  Sweat, dirt, heat, rain + face paint...yeah.  He resembled one of the many snacks I rarely (if ever) allow him to have when I picked him up in the evening.  Showering took a looooong time + lots of soap.  Happy Friday!  xoxo

Duck Duck Goose

It's the little things.  In this case - the party favor slash noisy-ass puppet from my nephew's birthday party a couple of weeks ago.  Oscar is kinda obsessed with it + thanks to camp "silly day" so is the entire hummingbird group.  Oscar's best bud Adrian was especially into it so we spread the love + gave him one too.  Big ups to Adrian's parents who are still talking to me.  Happy Tuesday!  xoxo

Booty

We are back!  It's been a few weeks of crazy - the ending of school, beginning of camp + a little independence day thrown in.  I admit I have been pretty inconsistent with the morning doodle.  Oscar has been understanding...until this morning.  He was playing Pirates of the Caribbean on PS3 while lunch-y prep was going on.  That's when he told me he misses his bags.  Aw!  Ok I say - I have time for something quick + promised to get on it for future snacks.  Luckily with Pirates playing the in the background inspiration came easy.  Plus I like to say the word booty.  Happy Wednesday!  xoxo

Tales from the Crypt

Some of my parent friends tell stories of their kids' voracious reading appetites.  Well, this is not my kid despite my own pretty substantial reading habits. Oscar likes to write his own stories.  You can imagine how fun book reports are - assigned twice weekly.  When I ask Oscar what book he wants to use for his homework last night, he quickly makes up a title (Blood Drinking Monsters).  Yeah.  Try again puppet - get something from the shelf.  Skelly the Skeleton materializes with the request to draw her for the bag so everyone can see she's not just a girl...she's a spooky girl. Sigh - it's rough discouraging your super creative kid.  I bet his story would be better.   Happy Friday!  xoxo

I had hoped to get off easy with an American flag doodle in honor of Flag Day this morning...no dice.  Time ticking away + homeboy asking me to draw the level he was trying to clear in Super Mario Bros.  Sigh.  We made it out of the house on time but the bottom halves of Mario + skeleton turtle didn't fair so well in my haste.  At least he got to the boss bowzer.  Happy Thursday!  xoxo

Well, actually bonjour, but unfortunately there isn't a band with that name that I am aware.  So, this is a special request by my special little protege.  Oscar's best friend's little sister slash the girl he will always secretly dream is his girlfriend.  When I asked Oscar this morning if he was cool with giving up the doodle to her this morning he had noooo problem with it.  Of course.  Having held this same title with my brother's bff forever, I can tell you little girl, just reap the benefits.  There's no shame in my game.  Happy Friday!  xoxo
